Hey folks,

The Campion track team participated in the UWI Invitational / Final Fling track meet at the National Stadium yesterday.  Once again, most of our athletes who have already achieved the "A" standard for Boys and Girls Championships did not participate.

Nonetheless, a Campion athlete was still able to muster up an exceptional performance:

Joel Beaufort - 16:52.0 (5000m - 3rd)

Complete results can be accessed here.

In order to benefit from the current discounts available, 9 pairs of spikes (the most urgent) were ordered.  The details are as follows:
  • 1 Mizuno HJ
  • 1 Nike Zoom TJ
  • 2 Nike Rival MD III
  • 1 Nike Zoom Rival S IV
  • 2 Nike Jana Star II
  • 1 Nike Zoom Shift Montreal
  • 1 Adidas Hedge Arriba
These spikes are expected to arrive in Fort Lauderdale on Friday.  At least 6 pairs will be taken to Jamaica on Friday as well.  The remaining pairs will be sent to Jamaica subsequently.  Failing an on-time arrival in Fort Lauderdale, we will seek alternate means for delivery.

We have 5 remaining spikes, after the latest information from the coaches, to be purchased.  I expect the remaining 5 to cost about $300.

The total cost for the 9 pairs of spikes ordered is $327.34 and the credit card reflects accordingly.  The balance in our bank account as of February 15 is... Read more »

Given that the 2010 Boys and Girls Championships are less than 2 months away (yes it is that soon! - March 24-27), we are now appealing for funds to purchase spikes (especially field events spikes like triple and high jump spikes, which are hard to find in Jamaica) for the team.  16 pairs of spikes have been requested.  Based on prices I am currently seeing online, this would carry the total to US$700.  I am confident we will get to this total in short order!

As a reminder, in order to contribute:

If you are in Jamaica, you can purchase items yourself by contacting Coach Brown (876-815-8355) or Sasha (876-381-1290) and find out what items the team needs at the point in time you make contact, or you can go into any VMBS location and make a deposit to a/c # 24207144, or hand the money directly to Coach Brown, or wire money from any bank to the VMBS a/c # 24207144, or make out a cheque payable to Carrington Hartley or Brian Phillpot...
